I have been inspired

My lovely friend Jen is such a diligent writer. Whether it be writing essays while we were at school, freelance journalism, songs or poems, she would sit herself down at her desk (almost always with her feet up, and almost always wearing stripes) and write. Even now, years later, with a husband, and a soon-to-be-new-born to care for, she's still blogging and sending postcards like clockwork. Jenny, I've been inspired.

I've always been more of a visual, and tactile person than a wordsmith, but times are changing and a new season has begun. Once upon a time, I loved to spend my days assembling packages for friends containing textured papers and carefully selected color schemes, fragrant teas and cuttings from my mother's garden. But then I met a tall, dark, handsome man, and we fell (hopelessly, wonderfully, divinely) in love. We've been married for almost three months and it's an absolute dream. But now my time is not entirely my own, and happily so. While I've had to trade in applying gold-leaf borders to envelopes for folding (and folding) laundry, I have lost nothing. Now the linen paper I loved so much, has turned into the linen sheets on our delicious bed.  The time I spent selecting teas is now spent tending my own herb garden.  (Let me tell you, while mint tea is nice, fresh mint is nicer.  It not only makes tea, but also one beautiful Mint Julep.)  Life is different, and things have changed, but I couldn't be happier with my lot.

While I'm still determined to put the odd letter in the post, I am trading in my Waterman for a keyboard so I can snag a few precious moments with my man.  You can find me here, and on Pinterest.
